What companies in your opinions make the best overall practical, camping and heavy duty knives? Best bang for your buck? Cheapest but well made? Best service and warranty? The blade will hold up to constant use and/or is easy to sharpen or the company will do it for you free/cheap? I have two kershaws and I like them. Cheap and reliable and I have not yet to have any problems with them. One is a Ken Onion chive (great little pocket knife). I am looking for something along the lines of a legal pocket knife in california ( I believe the blade has to be under 2 3/4") and something no bigger than say a six inch blade. Folding or not.

Resolved Question: How do you clean the spring in a Benchmade mini griptilian?
So the other day I went to the beach for a barbecue and I went in the water without taking my knife out of my pocket. When I got home I took my knife out and noticed that it had rust everywhere I was able to clean the rust off everything but the spring on the locking mechanism. I took most the knife apart ( and yes I know that doing so voids the warranty) but couldn't get it open all the way because there is screw that has to be opened with an special sized allen wrench that I don't have. Does anyone know if there is another way to clean the spring or take apart the knife? *P.S. - I have just about every size allen wrench ever made so its not that I have to get a specific wrench it's just that benchmade made the knife like that so that is would not be fully opened by anyone.

I was just wondering what people's opinions would be on this subject. I have more than I know what to do with and could possibly wear...if I wanted to I could probably wear a new outfit everyday for about 2 months straight without even having to wash anything before I had to repeat something. I have over 150 ties at an average of $100 each, numerous $100+ jackets/blazers, jeans, dress and sport shirts, sweaters all of varieties, styles, and materials, shoes, and even catchy socks. I even have the $795.99 English benchmade wingtip shoes that all the models wear in the billboards/ads that I just wore for the 1st time this past weekend. So tell me am I obessed and is this a good or bad thing??? P.S. I'm 26 and have a well paying job, so I can kinda afford all the spending to just look good. I've even away a lot of stuff that no longer fit to my cousin, then he got complimented at work for how good his style was. I can basically afford it all, but I most certainly buy it according and have no problem paying full price for the pieces I know you can't get everywhere...I prefer to shop at the Ralph Lauren boutiques because they can get you any item there even if it is not in-stock at that particular location. Plus I know 20 people personally who work for the company so I can get basically whatever I want or need.

I am planning to buy a Benchmade 710 D2 but don't know about which type of blade should I get? There is a satin finish which is the steel color and there is a BT2 coating which is black. Which finish would last longer against rust or overall? Which finish is better? Should I get a plain edge or a combo edge? No I don't mean that I'm a cutter. I mean that I like to buy and carry knives. I carry a knife daily as a tool to open boxes and peel apples etc. I however seem to be on an endless quest for the perfect knife. I know this sounds irrational and silly to most people but I don't see it as harmful. I collect pocket knives made by Benchmade and Spyderco. You can see these knives at Benchmade.com and Spyderco.com. I don't constantly purchase knives to the point where I don't have money for food or mortgage or things like that. I just really like the craftsmanship of a good knife. And I don't consider the junk that is sold on QVC or ShopAtHome to be good quality. It's junk. Is this a bad thing? I mean I somewhat can justify it by saying, well at least I'm not out drinking or at strip clubs or whatever, but I'm not sure if that is right or not.
